Great British Car Journey has launched a partnership made in heaven for classic car enthusiasts.
Former Bangers and Cash TV star Sarah Crabtree and motor racing presenter Paul Woodford will produce and star in Great British Car Share. The YouTube series will feature Paul and Sarah behind the wheel of iconic exhibits from the Great British Car Journey museum collection.
The new series will be broadcast on Great British Car Journey’s YouTube channel over the next 12 months.
Sarah, who now runs online classic car auction site Evoke Classics, said: “As director of Evoke Classics I speak to enthusiasts every day about their cars; why they bought them and the memories they’ve made. Time and time again the family connection is mentioned. It’s deeply rooted for many of us.
“I’m thrilled to be part of something that brings the classic community together in more ways than one. Working with Paul is the icing on the cake, so here’s to lots more fun-filled filming days and laughter.”
Great British Car Share follows on from a pilot filmed at the end of 2022, which saw Paul and Sarah drive the museum’s Austin 7s and Austin 12, with hilarious results. The pilot was the first time Paul and Sarah worked together, combining a love and knowledge for classic cars with a passion for motoring.
The films, which have had more than 140,000 views, were met with rave reviews from the classic car community, with many asking for a regular series of Paul and Sarah’s adventures together in classic cars.
Paul, who produces and directs Great British Car Share, explained:“My lifelong passion for cars is based on memorable adventures, with great people. Great British Car Share combines these two things perfectly. Sarah and I hit it off when we first met at the opening of the Great British Car Journey back in May 2021, so to be back behind the wheel together here is very fitting!”
The new series, which has been made in conjunction with Great British Car Journey, starts on YouTube on Wednesday 1 March 2023, and features Paul and Sarah behind the wheel of the cars their mum’s and dad’s drove – an Austin Maxi, Rover 216, Ford Sierra and original Minis.
In addition to the new Great British Car Share series, Paul and Sarah have also been named as Ambassadors of the visitor attraction. In their ambassador roles, Paul and Sarah have agreed to attend a number of events at the visitor attraction, including the Great British Car Meet on Monday 10 April (Bank Holiday).
Delighted to have Sarah and Paul onboard, Richard Usher owner and founder of Great British Car Journey said: “We are honoured that Paul and Sarah have agreed to be ambassadors of Great British Car Journey – helping us fly the flag for the country’s motoring heritage and ensuring that it isn’t forgotten. Having Paul and Sarah on our journey embodies everything that Great British Car Journey is about – fun, accessibility and lots of facts about cars the nation has forgotten!”
Paul added: “The vision of Richard and his team is to bring the story of British motoring to as many people as possible. I really hope our adventures inspire even more people to come and enjoy reliving their own family stories at this wonderful attraction.”
