Roy “The Weasel” James was getaway driver in the The Great Train Robbery. He died in 1997 at the age of 61, having led a colourful life, either in prison, on a race track or involved in crime. The perfect subject for a book, then. Roy James certainly lived life to the full on (and especially off) the track, mixing with the likes of Bernie Ecclestone, a topless, Hang-gliding Model and gun-toting bank robbers.

Rich has a fun, deprecating style and will of course be signing copies of his book if you would like to buy one. (the book is obviously also available on Amazon)

Nuclear Talk!

On Thursday 30th August from 6.30pm we are delighted to welcome retired Royal Navy Commander Paul Morris OBE. Paul has a long and distinguished naval career and will be drawing on his experience to take us far below the waves for a glimpse into the fascinating world of the submarine. The illustrated presentation will give an insight into the way in which nuclear power is created and harnessed to provide submarine propulsion, as well as guiding us through the working parts of these extraordinary vessels.

Quite apart from his naval connections, Paul is a classic motoring enthusiast, an accomplished historic racer and a member of the Great British Car Club so we do hope you will come along and support him. All that sea air is sure to build an appetite and as usual a meal will be provided.

Travel by valances coach to The Great Central Railway At Loughborough. Fully guided tour of the railway sheds, workshops ect, and a trip on a steam train. Refreshments available at the station cafe, before your coach trip back to the GBCJ.
