This Mother’s Day, We’re Driving Mum’s Car 💐🚗
This Mother’s Day, we’re doing something a little special at The Great British Car Journey.
For the whole month, we’ve lovingly renamed our driving experience “Drive Mum’s Car”, celebrating the cars our mums drove and loved.
Because if there’s one thing we all agree on, Mum’s car was just a part of everyones childhood as dads!
And this nostalgia carries on through our staff here!
Ian, our Managing Director, remembers his mum’s Hillman Avenger, just like the one you can drive on DDC. It was brand new and promptly driven straight into the side of a wall. Thankfully, both mum and car survived, and luckily now they can all laugh about it!
Riley from Marketing grew up riding everywhere in his mum’s red Fiesta “sadface”. It proudly wore a very unofficial “Mexico” badge on the back, and Riley remembers her driving with the sunroof open at every possible opportunity. She also tells everyone to this day it was a Fiesta Mexico — and honestly, he doesn’t have the heart to correct her!
Then there’s Steve, who recalls his mum trading in her Hillman Imp (again, just like the one you can drive with us) for a shiny red Datsun 120Y. The interior had so much Ameral on it that it was permanently sticky and gleaming.
A Mother’s Day Treat Fit for Mum
