Vintage Humbers Visit The Great British Car Journey

Humbers have Joined Us This Month

It’s been a good summer for our Humbers here at the Great British Car Journey. Earlier this month we welcomed a number of them to Ambergate, a wonderful reminder of just how much affection still exists for these big, elegant Rootes cars. And if that wasn’t enough, our own Humber Super Snipe and Humber Hawk recently found themselves in the national spotlight thanks to a feature in Classic & Sports Car.

The article, written after a visit from the team at Car & Classic, put both cars through their paces and celebrated them as true “smooth operators”. The Super Snipe and Hawk may not always grab the headlines like Jaguars or Bentleys, but as the piece points out, they offered a uniquely British blend of understated luxury, comfort, and reliability that won them many loyal fans. Having our cars showcased in this way is a real treat, and we’re delighted to see the Humbers being appreciated by a wider audience once again.

Their moment in the limelight also comes at just the right time. With Humber owners bringing their cars to the museum this month, and more Rootes products expected to follow, it feels like the start of something special. And in less than a year’s time, we’ll be celebrating that heritage in full with our dedicated Rootes Group Day – “Back to Your Rootes” – on Sunday 2nd August 2026.

This special event will bring together Humbers, Hillmans, Sunbeams, Singers and more, in a one-day celebration of the Rootes family of cars. Whether you’re an owner keen to show off your pride and joy, or simply someone who remembers these machines from family life, it promises to be a day full of nostalgia, stories and classic British motoring at its finest.

So, with our Humbers hitting the headlines and enthusiasm for Rootes cars clearly alive and well, the countdown to Back to Your Rootes has well and truly begun. We can’t wait to see you there.
