This cover from April 9th 1948 attempts to dispel the austerity of the post-war period by celebrating Ford’s achievement in converting the Dagenham marshes into their vast assembly plant. Over 10 million cars were made at Dagenham between 1931 and 2002, but now the plant is home to engine manufacturing only. The illuminated Ford logo on the front of the factory was for many years the largest illuminated sign in Europe.
