Great British Car Club Christmas and Casino Night.

The Club originally scheduled this event for the evening of December 17 th but changed the date to the 10th due to Richard and Jane being away .

Unfortunately, it transpires that this date clashes with both Amber Valley and MadMog events which combined with the success of Godfrey’s Christmas Pipes in the Peak events has made our calendar very crowded at what is already a busy time for social occasions.

As a result, we have decided to move our Christmas event to the grim and depressing month of January and we will celebrate Christmas and the New Year at a dinner and Casino Evening on Friday January 24 th 2025. This will replace the Club Night on January 21st and our team of volunteers will be invited as before.

This will give us all an entertaining evening of late festive fun and food to look forward to,once the joy of Christmas has subsided.

The Austin Seven pioneered car ownership for the common man and his family. Hitherto condemned to a motorbike possibly tethered to a side-car, Austin’s little car offered the tantalising prospect of being able to take the family for days out and even holidays at the coast : it offered freedom to explore a world away from cramped and dirty towns and cities by taking to Britain’s network of winding country roads.

By the mid 1930s despite the economic traumas earlier in the decade, a second-hand Austin 7 could be had for similar money to a motor bike combination and Britain’s Motorcycle industry would never be the same again.

By the outbreak of war in 1939, more than 300,000 Sevens had been built and as Morris and Ford joined the small car party, the hard-working couple could give their family a freedom of mobility that transformed the way we live.

Patience would be required: The Seven’s little engine produced less than 20 horsepower and fully laden it would struggle to reach 40mph, but it opened up the Cotswolds and the coast to millions of people for whom such distant destinations were merely pictures in a book.

The Seven was produced under license in France, Germany, the USA and Japan and such is the love for Austin’s baby car that more than 10,000 are still in use around the world.

Hopefully 4th May will be a lovely Spring day and we would like to assemble as many vintage and pre-war cars as possible to celebrate.

The Morris Minor is one of our “Hero” cars and made its debut at the British Motor Show at Earls Court in October 1948 .  The Minor is central to the story of the Great British Car Journey being the best selling and most loved next generation of true family transport after the war and taking over the mantle from the Austin 7. 

Although Morris himself was no great fan of the Minor, it is a landmark vehicle in the history of Great British Cars with more than 1.7 million being built between 1948 and 1971. 

Hopefully 8th June will be a lovely Summer day and we would like to assemble as many Morris Minors as possible to celebrate this marvellous little car.

Promises to be a great family day and to celebrate ALL children (0-15years) can enjoy FREE entry to both the event and attraction (if you are booking in advance online just book for adults and just turn up on the day with the children to enjoy free entry for them).

Production of the DeLorean began in 1981 just four years before the car was catapulted into the spotlight by the highest-grossing film of 1985 – Back To The Future.

With its revolutionary stainless-steel body and distinctive gull-wing doors, the DeLorean was born with film star appeal and the futuristic DMC-12 sportscar now enjoys cult status.

Kids are also encouraged to come in Back To The Future costumes, with a prize for the best mini Marty McFly and Doc Brown on the day. Prizes include model cars and goody bags.

Manufactured in Northern Ireland, the DeLorean has rightfully claimed its place in the Great British Car collection which features more than 150 cars manufactured and designed in the UK.
