Derwent Wireworks Activities

The Derwent Wireworks Site

We are based in the Derwent Valley World Heritage Area on the site of the old Derwent Wireworks straddling the River Derwent and there is plenty else to do while you are on site.

You can spend a morning or afternoon with us and combine that with one of the other activities on site giving you a full day exploring our amazing location.  You have free access any time to our popular cafe during your visit for drinks, ice creams, picnics or home cooked meals

Please note for eBikes, Kayaking and Distillery Tours pre booking is recommended

Take an eBike Tour

The Peak District is such a beautiful area and Ambergate makes a great place to start a tour from so we have teamed up with our friends at PeakePedals to create an eBike touring hub running tours everyday from 1 hour to 6 hours that are suitable for all levels of cycling experience.

Take a Trip on the River

Take in stunning scenery as you navigate your Outlaw Kayak or Venture Canoe along the twists and turns of the River Derwent.
This journey takes place from our hub in Ambergate and is the perfect river tour for family and friends on any occasion

Mini Land Rover Adventures

Our Mini Land Rover Adventure is the chance for young children to get behind the wheel of one of our very cool electric Mini Land Rovers. Licensed by Jaguar Land Rover, these are very scaled down versions of the real thing suitable for children aged 4 to 11.

Hot Wheels Raceway

Come and join us at the  Riverside Raceway, almost certainly the longest track of its kind in the Midlands. See two cars race each other achieving scale speeds of over 200 miles per hour along a course which is over 100 feet long.

White Peak Distillery

You can visit the Distillery shop Monday to Saturday from 10am or you can book a behind the scenes tour Distillery where you will experience the unique atmosphere, heat and smells of a working distillery set in the old Johnson & Nephew Wire Works of the 1870s (pre booked only)

Walk in the Woods

Visit one of the popular woodland areas adjacent to our site. They make ideal locations for exploring, picnics and dog walking. You can purchase a walk guide at reception which will entitle you to park all day if you want to take advantage our unique location & enjoy the countryside too

Other Derbyshire Days Out

We have also teamed up with the following attractions with the Derbyshire Days Out scheme to get special discounts for Great British Car Journey visitors. Ideal if you are looking to spend a few days in the Peak District
