Sales Manager



Great British Car Journey (GBCJ) is a visitor attraction in Ambergate, Derbyshire, England. It opened on 22 May 2021. The attraction’s exhibits consist of over 130 cars that illustrate the history of British car design and production between 1902 and the present day. Visitors to the attraction are guided by an audio visual device which has both audio and visual capability and contains details on the cars and acts as a tour guide. GBCJ is the only car related visitor attraction in the UK to use this technology. Drive Dad’s Car is a visitor experience on the same site and allows visitors to drive, under instruction, a number of classic cars of their own choice from our 35+ collection of driveable classic cars dating from the 1930s to the 1990s.


The Role

The Sales Manager reports to the General Manager.

You will be working in a fast-paced business, supporting a growing and award winning visitor attraction and unique driving experience, delivering best-in-class experiences across all products.

You will lead, plan, and deliver focused sales strategies and promote, negotiate, and assist in the sale of visitor attraction tickets and Drive Dad’s Car experiences and membership of the Great British Car Club.

You will also be expected to deputise for the General Manager his absence.

This position is based at Ambergate in Derbyshire at the gateway to the Peak District in the heart of a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The role will require travel to domestic travel / tourism shows throughout the year.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, plan, and deliver a successful Group Sales Strategy, working with third party partners, the Management Team and Directors
  • To be responsible for delivering against sales targets and agreed KPIs
  • Manage, negotiate, and expand local and international partnerships, ensuring a strong travel trade presence that drives the attraction’s ticket revenue including, but not limited to, Tour Operators, Online Travel Agency channels, other ticket sales partners / channels, concierge / hotel partners and other tourism outlets
  • Work closely with Experience Agencies to broaden the sales of the Drive Dad’s Car product
  • Report on sales progress, creating and maintaining relevant sales reports, trends and opportunities
  • Communicate with the wider team, highlight new partners, promotions, and relevant activity, ensuring a collaborative and cohesive working environment
  • Work collaboratively with the management team to produce and distribute trade focused sales materials
  • Be able to plan and deliver events and group visits
  • Be a team player and be hands-on in other parts of the business when necessary
  • Working hours can be varied and will include some weekends and Bank Holidays
  • Hold a full clean driving licence

Skills and Experience

  • 3+ years of working in sales
  • Experience in the travel and tourism business is an advantage
  • Highly organised, able to use time effectively
  • Commercially focused, with the ability to identify revenue streams, opportunities, and partners
  • Strong presenting, upselling and negotiation skills
  • Demonstratable experience of relationship building across multiple business areas
  • Experience working in a customer focused environment and delivering high levels of guest experience
  • Excellent literacy and IT skills
