1932 Sir Malcolm Campbell Bluebird Framed Art Print

£79.95£129.95

This fabulous cover from August 26th 1932 celebrates the fact that Sir Malcolm Campbell had covered the measured mile at over 253mph, setting a new set of Land Speed Records in February at Daytona Beach in Florida. Bluebird was a monster: she was over 25 ft long and her wind-tunnel developed aluminium body covered a strong chassis powered by a 24litre Napier aero engine developing around 1400 bhp. The footage of the car hurtling down the beach is truly terrifying and this wonderful image pays tribute to the brakes which allowed Campbell to stop the car on the far from ideal surface. The brake linings were made by Duron who were based in Buxton in the North of Derbyshire.
